Veyra Weekly – Vol. 30
This week, Veyra Weekly highlights two brands approaching design through irony, commentary, and graphic symbolism — the directional satire of Georgia Wenig and the sculptural utility of Decoy.
Georgia Wenig – “March Shorts”
Georgia Wenig’s “March Shorts” might be the most conceptually layered piece in her recent collection. Constructed from double-faced satin silk tapestry samples donated by Sanderson, the shorts balance delicacy and structure with unexpected durability.
Finished with solid silver hardware sourced from Citron Jeans, the piece blends decorative textile history with industrial detailing. But the true focus lies at the hem.
Embroidered text reading “left” and “right” appears in a custom typeface developed specifically for the collection — a font that mimics both digital clock numerals and traditional militaria stamping. The text is intentionally oriented to face the wearer rather than the viewer, suggesting that it functions as a tool rather than a statement.
The piece acts as a subtle generational critique. Wenig references the assumption — and observation — that many of us have grown up relying on digital systems, from clocks to GPS navigation. The shorts humorously nod to a perceived loss of analog fluency and spatial awareness, transforming cultural commentary into wearable detail.

Decoy – CORE1.5 “ISOTYPE” Side Bag
Decoy’s CORE1.5 “ISOTYPE” Side Bag turns universal signage into functional design. Shaped like the simplified male restroom symbol, the silhouette immediately feels familiar — a flat graphic transformed into three-dimensional form.
Crafted from 100% vegan leather, the bag features custom-molded silver-plated hardware, a matching strap in identical material, and multiple anchor points that allow it to be worn in various configurations.
Inside, a custom interior lining, slim zipper compartment, and slip pockets keep the piece practical despite its playful exterior. The design walks the line between irony and usability — a novelty shape refined through thoughtful construction.
Designed in Phoenix, Arizona, the Isotype Side Bag is part of Decoy’s ongoing exploration of identity, symbol, and reinterpretation. It’s a wearable icon — bold but accessible.
